Beech Spring term

Wow, what a busy first half term we have had in Beech class! All the pupils have been working hard to develop their independence skills in many different ways. Some pupils have been superstars in their Conductive Education sessions, really trying hard to further develop their physical independence, whilst others have been working on skills such as feeding and helping to make their own snacks.
Pupils have also been developing their communication skills over the half term in many different ways. Some pupils have been developing their symbol use whilst others have been amazing at showing the activities that they like. The parachute was a big hit in our Maths lesson recently where pupils were experiencing positional language such as in, on and under. There were certainly lots of giggles from pupils who were ‘under’ the parachute!
This half term we have also been lucky to have Ben from ‘More Music’ delivering weekly sessions in Beech class which the pupils have engaged amazingly with and loved all the topic-based songs. They have also had the opportunity to explore instruments which they don’t normally see, such as the French horn. It was amazing to hear!
Our topic this term is ‘Transport – By Air and Sea’. We have started to look at boats and had many different stories related to that particular mode of transport. We have also been making junk model boats and hoping that they don’t sink! We have been looking at ‘old’ and ‘new’ transport and look forward to learning about this further when our museum loan box arrives next half term. We are also going to focus on travelling by ‘air’ next half term. We are going to be make junk model planes and look forward to the story ‘Emma Jane’s Aeroplane’.
More pictures to follow of our fun learning next half term!
