Autumn term

As part of our term’s theme of Seasons and Celebrations we have been exploring a range of topics.
We have been looking at the work of the artist Jackson Pollock and creating our own works of art using his splattering technique. These fantastic pictures now form part of our wall display in the school hall – check out our artwork when you come and see the nativity.
Whilst experiencing the beautiful colours of Autumn we used a variety of mediums to create textured artwork. We used paints and other materials to make leaf prints and explored all the sounds of Autumn through our themed Music and Movement.
This half term Ben from More Music has visited us in class on Tuesday afternoons and we have had an exciting time trying out a wide range of musical equipment including the electronic drums. We have been able to record our class ‘sound’ and listen to it over and over again – the children were delighted with their performance.
As the very special time of Christmas is almost upon us we are busy planning for two important events:-
Firstly the school nativity – Whoops-a-Daisy, we have all been practicing the songs and learning our parts and are very excited to share the story with our families
Chestnut are hosting their very own Christmas party on the afternoon of the 10th, as part of our preparations we have made Christmas fairy cakes, jam and cheese sandwiches, tried out different party games and made our very own pass the parcel – we can’t wait!!!
